Mr. Tyler YoungquistA native of Lennox, SD, Tyler Youngquist is in his fourth year of teaching at his alma mater, where he directs the high school concert band and jazz band, 5th grade band, and junior high marching band. He received his bachelor of music education degree from South Dakota State University in 2018. While at SDSU, Mr. Youngquist played first-chair French horn in the Wind Symphony, sang in the Concert Choir, and served as drum major for the Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band for four years. After graduation, he worked as a campus minister in Eau Claire, WI, for two years before moving back to South Dakota, where he taught K–6 general music and 5–12 band at Tripp-Delmont School District. Mr. Youngquist sings in the South Dakota Symphony Choir and plays in the Lennox Municipal band in the summer. In his free time, Mr. Youngquist enjoys playing board games, hammocking, and riding his bike.

Miss Ellie KenkelEllie Kenkel is in her seventh year of teaching in the Lennox School District, where she directs 6th grade band, junior high concert band and jazz band, as well as high school marching band. Her students have consistently performed well at parade, field, and jazz competitions. Since starting at Lennox, she has developed student ownership of the band program through leadership and mentorship opportunities. Ellie grew up in Mitchell SD, and graduated from Augustana University with a music education degree in 2017. She currently serves as band chair for SDMEA and is the 2022 recipient of the Dennis Hegg Young Director Award.
